About

Emerging from the cultural melting pot of South London, Dan Samsa occupies a rare spot between classical, techno, jungle, jazz and experimental sound art. Dan has carved out a career that is truly unique. In 2017 he created his critically acclaimed (8.9 by DJ Mag) album ‘Warchestra’ where he travelled to South America to collaborate with Brazilian musicians, fusing their sound with UK styles including a collaboration with award-winning poet and rapper Kae Tempest. Keen to discover new musical forms and structures by harnessing the potential of new technologies, his groundbreaking immersive live shows have seen him working with the likes of the London Contemporary Orchestra and Kamikaze Space Programme. His experiments with 360° microphones have captivated audiences from the experimental music world; his piece ‘Saturn’ was released on Gabriel Prokofiev’s Nonclassical imprint.

His latest album ‘Contours’ combines his environmental 360° microphone textures with live drums, brass, piano, synthesisers and vocalists, fusing experimental classical with jazz and electronic dance music styles. The album has already been played on BBC Radio 6 Music and Jazz FM Gilles Peterson and Jay Phelps. Dan recently delivered a UK tour of his debut album 'Contours’ and has recently completed a commission reimagining the works of Philip Glass for his 85th birthday to be released on Glass's imprint Dunvagan Music (Jan 2023) and has recently completed orchestral commissions from The Southbank Sinfonia and CoMA.
